Sad time for NZ Roller Hockey

Posted on January 21, 2011 at 4:08 PM

Bob Dufty Sadly passed away on Thursday after long battle with illness.

Rest in Peace Bob

We wish all the family and friends comfort over this tough time.

Bob Dufty was a huge part of Roller Hockey NZ over the past 40+ years as he had played, coached, represented and was a local and international referee. Bob also had three sons Wayne (deceased), Ross and Kevin who all represented NZ in Roller Hockey over the years. He was a huge inspiration to his sons and many of the other players within NZ including myself.

I personally was emotionally touched to see Bob and Kay at the Trans Tasman Cup in August knowing  the difficulty they both faced getting there. RIP

A service for Bob will be held at Seddon Park Funeral Home Chapel, Cnr Seddon Road & Somerset Street, Hamilton, on Monday, 24 January 2011 at 10:30am followed by private cremation.

I was fortunate to be apart of the hamilton side that Bob played a massive role in. He was an inspiration to all team and club members, and to all those people that travelled overseas with him. An inspiring father who was paid the ultimate acolade by his children who loved him dearly. And may i say a good husband to his wife Kay. To you Kay and family, may i offer my sincere condolances and kind thoughts. Kind regards Noel Hawken. Brisbane, Aust.
