Posted on October 29, 2010 at 5:01 PM Comments comments (4)

Holland goes down 3 - 2 to USA. and Austria go down 6 - 3 to South Africa.

Holland vs USA

What an entertaining night of finals, both teams expected to win go down to the opposition. Firstly Holland fall short of making the final in a nail biter game. 1 all in the first half and the USA came back early in the second half to edge ahead 3 - 1. Holland then came back with around 7 minutes to go to make an interesting and full on attack from Holland, but unfortunately not getting the equalizer.

What a match that was now Holland will play Austria again for third place!!!

Austria vs South Africa

It was the match of the night with most people picking Austria to win in there home land although South Africa had different plans. The game started with a fierce pace and Austria looked as sharp as they had during previous games. South Africa scored first and then they built in momentum scoring 4 goals before half time leaving the half time score 4 - 0. Straight after the break Austria went into a full all out attack scoring just minutes into the second half.

Then again they attacked getting the win within reach when they become 4 - 3 with 10 minutes remaining. South Africa kept patience and secured another 2 goals taking the win 6 - 3, the crowd was shocked and heart broken but stayed vocal until the final whistle went. Well done South Africa and they will meet team USA in the final tomorrow night.

Day 7 World Champs

NZ beats Israel 7 - 3 as the team finally show some form. Israel looking to keep the kiwis out but with NZ holding posession most of the game Israel was not going to get many chances. NZ started with Rob Vazey starting on the bench still getting over his injury Russell Clarke started Rohan Singh in his place. The team still looking to fire, started a little slow but slowly gathered in momentum. The score was 2 - 2 at half time and looked to be a hard task getting through as Israel kept a good defence. Rob Vazey came on for a period in the first half with no sign major sign of injury. Damion Wilson after a couple of soft goals started to reach form keeping some good shots at bay.

The team really kept the ball away from Israel in the second half and created some very good oportunity for goals but  just coming short. The team then put away acouple and started to get into a good rythum. Goal scorers: Mark Turner 2, John Bardo 2, Rob Vazey 1, Tony Deller 1 and Rohan Singh. Alley Langridge played well even though not scoring, keeping strong defence and setting up goals. Dean Fitness had many shots on goal but unfortunately not getting them across the line.

The team will play there last game against Japan tomorrow which will be hard as the japanies are looking sharp. Good Luck guys....

Day 6 World Champs

Day 6 first day of round 2

NZ played India and won with a convincing 13 - 4 with John Bardo the captian standing down with injury and Rob Vazey out also the team made a convincing win over the young Indian team. Every player that took the floor scored, the team are playing Israel tomorrow in the next game. It was a good opportunity for the coach to start the game with the young new players in the team. Unfortunately there were some moments that lapsed letting India score 4 goals.

We are still waiting for the NZ to have a complete game and for the team to be at there best. with Rob Vazey and John Bardo back tomorrow and Rohan Singh 100 % we are ready for action. Israel will definately be up against a full strength team.

The team is heading off now to watch the match Australia vs USA. Other matches today were Macau vs Holland with Holland winning 10 - 3, Japan played Israel and the final score was 5 - 3. Japan are looking very strong even though they lost as they have spent two months training in Spain/ Portugal. It shows that the group A was the strongest group as the A group teams start playing the B group teams.

Team India

Isaac Fraser has scored his first international goal today against India and the team congradulates Isaac on this acheivement.

Australia vs USA

Australia had a bad start vs USA with a goal being scored in the opening minutes and another goal not long after, both goals were unfortunate as one was a own goal and the other was a poor attempt. The team came back strong and won the second half 3 - 1 although the USA had already made there mark on the game beating Australia 7 - 3. If the Aussies had kept them out in the first half like they had played in previous games they could have beaten the 2nd seeded team.

Glenn Cox the captain scored 2 of the three goals in the secon half with one of them being such a great goal he also displayed a breakdancing back spin that was excecuted with top spin and finishing. This was great for the crowd, good stuff Glenn. The other team members all played weel and should be proud of there efforts. Next Australia will be playing Macau and they should be up for a win. Good Luck...

Australia go down 4 - 2 to Uruguay

Australia went down against Uruguay after a hard match, with Glen Cox still unable to play due to injury the team are still playing well. The team will meet USA tomorrow at 7pm and this will be a knock out match to make the semi finals. USA have finished top of section B and look strong just beating Macau 12 - 3, although with the way Australia have been playing they could role the states and put them into the final position.

If Australia keep there composure and play with heart they are able to make the semi's securing a place in the top 4, this would be a huge acheivement for them.

The NZ team wish them the best.

NZ vs Holland

With NZ meeting the top seeded team we new we were up against it with Rob Vazey out and other injuries within the team it was going to be a major ask. The main thing was to play with pride, this they did with scoring 4 goals matching the highest goals to be scored against them it shows we still have some fire power.

Goal scorers Tony Deller, John Bardo, Dean Fitness and Alley Langridge with a fantastic slap shot. Unfortunately Holland kept there top team on most of the game and kept the pace on showing there skill and passion for the game taking NZ 15 - 4.

Rob Vazey will stand down the next game against India as he did today and most of the Israel match to be ready for the games against Japan and the rematch against Israel, this is important as we need to beat these teams to finish 9th. Rohan Singh looks to be back to full health and we should have all other injuries clear by Fridays game.

Both goalies have been up against it and Richard and Damo have played well. Damion Wilson has saved many penalties and has really been an asset to the team..

Go the Roller Blacks... and Go the Aussies in there next few games....

NZ Beat Isreal 7-6

After Israel scored in the first 9 seconds from a long shot with a deflection from captian John Bardo into the top right corner. Then NZ kept composure and went on to level the score with Tony Deller scoring a great individual goal. Rob Vazey then scored not long after with a slap shot and made the score 2 -1, not long after Rob left the floor injured and with Rohan Singh not playing due to being ill therefore NZ were down to 6 floor players.

Israel came back to level the score and then it was back and forth with the scoring with Alley Langridge setting Mark Turner up for a great one two goal. Israel then took the lead 5-4 with 8 minutes remaining. Then Rob Vazey came on for a couple of minutes setting Mark Turner up with a nice one two goal levelling the score and not long after Dean Fitness scored taking NZ into the lead. NZ back in front only for a minutes as Israel were hungry for a win scoring again to level the score. Then Mark Turner with minutes to go scored the final goal giving NZ there first World cup win. NZ will go on to play Japan, India and Israel in the 2nd round.

Australia played Nederlands (Holland)

The game startedwith an increadible pace with Australia's  Errol Heagney scoring the first goal. Then the Holland started moving the ball with speed around but the Australian team broke there game plan with Beven Hurley scoring again and then again taking Holland 3-1 to the half time break.

Coach Chris Shar looked to have the team playing a perfect game against the top seaded team. Half time started with the Aussies keeping ahead until Holland scored with a nice individual goal. Then from knowhere came Beven Hurley with a slap shot from right mid court into the top left corner...one of the best shots of the champs!!! 4 - 2 with 6 minutes remaining Holland turned on a display of 4 goals in a minute taking back the lead 6 - 4 and then in the dying minute scoring again taking the win 7-4.

Well done to the Aussie team for a great game and coming so close to beating the top seeded team and without Glenn Cox the captain playing due to injury. Aussie must beat Uruguay to finish 3rd in there section other wise they will meet USA in the 2nd round. Good luck guys!!!:)

World Cup Summary

Well we are half way through the first round with many teams showing incredible skill and determination. The Stadium is full every night and this great for the teams playing as the drums beat and the crowd chant its really great to see. The stand out team at present is Austria as they have only one goal against and they have beaten the Nederlands 3-0 as this team was the team to beat. Other stand out teams are USA, Nederlands, Macau, South Africa and Uruguay. Australia are also looking to make a mark after beating NZ.

Picture Austria vs Nederlands. 3 - 0

Other teams looking to improve are NZ, Egypt, Japan and India.

NZ have made the paper three days in a row the picture below is one of the articles. featuring Rob Vazey *8

Well the business end is now here and who wants to make a call??? well I will, so below after watching the teams and there performance I believe the Nederlands will come back and take the title with USA and Austria battling for second place. After some of the refs calls in the last games I think all teams that come against Austria are up for a battle as the home crowds are also causing some harsh decisions against the opposing team.

battling for fourth, fifth and sixth could be any of the following teams:South Africa, Macau, Australia, Egypt and Uruguay.

Lets see what happens....game on.

Day 3 World Champs

NZ vs Australia

Wow what a game after Australia losing to Austria 10 - 0 they were looking to improve there standard and came out firing. NZ though with two loses needed to finaly step up to the mark. NZ started the scoring with Alley Langridge scoring from a long shot with Rob Vazey not long after scoring a top hand corner penalty shot, then the team made it 3 -0 in the first 15 min with Aussy not scoring before half time.

NZ kept the pace and structure and stayed 3-0 until Australia scored with 8 minutes remaining and then again not long after. The Aussy team then took advantage of a disillusioned NZ team. Therefore the final score ended 6-3, the score did not reflect the game although full credit must go to the Australian team for a great come back...in the dying minutes to take the match.

But looking on the bright side Austria just beat Nederlands 3 - 0 therefore today NZ are the only country to score against Austria in front of there home crowd, with Mark Turner scoring with a Rob Vazey assist. Check out the TV highlights on the World Champs 2010 page.

Day 2 World Champs

Started at morning withlight breakfast, then went and watched Australia play Israel 9am. Australia played very well and looked sharp beating Israel 9-2. Then the team went for a swim at the hotel pool and then had lunch. After a rest we headed to the stadium around 4pm to get ready for our game vs Uruguay.

The game started at pace with Uruguay playing a very tight man on man game plan. NZ looked sharp also taking more options and a more attacking defence. Uruguay scored three un answered goals in the first half although NZ was still in it. The second half started with Mark Turner scoring with in 7 seconds from a Uruguay hit off.

Then Uruguay stepped up there pace and scored another three goals, Alley Langridge took a powerful shot with 4mins remaining with a slight deflection hit a Uruguay player in the face causing majoe injury, the game was stopped for around 15minutes while doctors checked him out. The game ended with the NZ team felling very disapointed with the result.

Australia played Austria tonight at 8pm and started strong although finding a simular result as NZ going down 10 - 0, also loosing Glenn Cox to a red card.

NZ play Australia tomorrow at 12 noon. Bring it on.....

Day 1 World Champs

NZ goes down 8-1 to Austria in the opening game.

After the opening ceremony of nearly 2 hours NZ started off strong with the first 13 minutes 0-0 and NZ having more chances than Austria. Then came the attack from Austria with a huge crowd behind them beating drums and screaming. The half time score ended with 5-0 then NZ scored in the first 4 minutes starting a come back that unfortunately did not amount to any thing.

The team are still in good spirit as we know we could have played a lot better, unfortunately it was not our night. But tomorrow is a different day and we play Uraguay at 5pm so this will need to be the game we start and finish strong.

The second game was played between Egypt and India. Egypt won this game with a convincing win 17-1.

Day 6 Darmstardt to Dornbirn

Posted on October 22, 2010 at 3:22 PM Comments comments (4)

Today we travelled by train to Dornbirn, the train ride was very good as we got to see some of the country side. We stopped in Lindau where we were picked up by coach and taken to Dornbirn, during this ride we travelled through a 6.7 KM tunnel, now that is one serious tunnel.

During the train ride there were card games being held and Rob Vazey and Roger Bedford cleaned up all challengers before retiring to let the losers play off. Isaac Fraser and John Bardo vs Rohan Singh and Alley Langridge finished with no winner as the train arrived in Lindau. Rob Vazey had a his heart racing after leaving his bag on the train with his pass port and money etc in it. This was also the case for Elisabeth and Richard Haywood, luckily the other team members had there eye on the game picking them up on the way through. That could have been interesting???

The guys all felt good today and seem to be over the jetlag. We arrived in Dornbirn around 4pm and checked into the Hotel, the rooms and hotel are very nice. After we checked in we went for a walk around to check out the local area, and then had dinner at 7.30pm.

The new members of the team are a little nervous as the initiations are yet to be completed, it has been noted that after naps some have checked that their eyebrows are still intact, along with other areas....HA HA HA.. As we have 7days to go I am happy to take any suggestions. The longer serving players Mark, Rob and Ro have things sorted but would like to know if there are any other ideas...Post your comment...

Tomorrow we start the day with breakfast at 7.45am then we will have a look at the stadium, and possibly a light training run. Then lunch, meeting followed by an early dinner before heading to the opening ceremony and game one. Ticket sales have gone well, so we are expecting a full stadium for our opening game vs Austria.
